Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team’s junior rider Edward Sutton took part in the National Junior Road Race in Yorkshire, an event to a showcase for up-and-coming talent.
The first two laps were at a fast pace as big teams looked to leave behind weaker riders. Sutton having stayed with the pace was placed well in the 3rd lap, and had been in a breakaway that saw a 40 second advantage from the main field. Unfortunately, due to pouring rain and wet weather conditions, Sutton crashed three times forcing him to retire from the race; and only a quarter of the original field were able to finish.
The following day, four members of the Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team headed over to the Winchester Park and Ride for some closed circuit racing.
Racing in the 3rd Category Race were James Ebdon, Sam Baker, Kev Foster and Ian Hayden. It was a warm day for racing, which was a contributing factor to a high-paced break forming early on.
Baker, Ebdon, Foster, and Hayden worked well together getting back to the lead group in the final laps, and then finished with this reduced group.
