The main route connecting Yarmouth and Newport is the subject of a police closure this afternoon (Sunday) as police and paramedics descended on the quiet town.
Around 14:30, an incident believed to be a medical emergency occurred on Tennyson Road, Yarmouth, where 4 units from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, including an armed response unit, arrived at the scene.
Despite the busy road being closed from Thorley Road, a main cordon has been established near the town centre just past Yarmouth Cemetery.
Police and paramedics are at the scene, working on what is believed by Island Echo to be a medical emergency of an unknown nature.
The main route remains closed at this time.

Why does a medical emergency need armed officers?
As fsr as I could tell when passing (before road closed) this was a man on ground on sidewalk with a few people helping. Not sure why it needed armed response units and road closures. IOW always seems to be print the whole army in first then see what happened. I suspect the poor person didnt make it 🙁
