A 13-year-old schoolboy has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital after being hit by a car on Ryde’s St Johns Road this afternoon (Monday).
Island Echo understands that the incident was first reported at around 15:50 and has inolved a black Seat Ibiza and a child.
The incident, located just past the turning to Daniel Street, has seen a section the main route closed.
On scene are 2 policing units as well as paramedics who are currently providing medical assistance to the patient ahead of their transfer into the back of an ambulance.
It is not yet known whether any arrests have been made as a result of the incident, or how the incident occurred.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been contacted for a statement.
UPDATE @ 17:05 – Police have confirmed that a 13-year-old boy suffered injuries following the collision.
He has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for further assesment.
Emergency crews on scene are beginning to stand down.
