8 members of the Island Gig Rowing Club, based at Island Harbour Marina, took to the water to take part in the Great River Race on the River Thames last weekend.
Rowing alongside 270 other boats, the team took on the challenge to raise money for Mountbatten Hospice, supporting the vital care and services they provide to families across the Isle of Wight.
The crew had set themselves a fundraising target ahead of the event, and thanks to the incredible generosity of family, friends and supporters, they have already exceeded their target.
With more donations still coming in, the team hopes to raise even more money for this important local charity.
Taking part in the Great River Race was a fantastic achievement for the club and a great opportunity to come together as a team while supporting a cause close to many people’s hearts.
The eight members of Island Gig Rowing Club would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported their fundraising and encouraged them throughout their challenge.
Every donation, large or small, will help Mountbatten Hospice continue its important work supporting people and their families living with life-limiting illnesses.
