A Newport road, only recently surface dressed, has had emergency works carried out this week.
Scorching temperatures have sent the main Blackwater road between Newport and Merston, outside Bardon Vectis, into a bubbling mess as the tarmac started to melt.
Contractors have treated the road and are today laying gravel on top of the repaired roads, causing great plumes of dust.
A similar situation has been experienced at the bottom of Culver Down, Yaverland.
