A thief who ignored requests from shop workers to return goods he had stolen, has been fined £40.
Daniel Dickons, 39, of Avenue Road in Sandown, admitted a single charge of theft from a shop when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (Friday 29th May).
Prosecuting, Liz Miller, told the court that on the 14th April, Dickons entered Co-op on High Street in picked 2 bottles of wine.
After picking up the alcohol, Dickons placed the bottles in his bag and left the store. The 39-year-old was challenged at the front of the store but refused to give the goods back.
Defending Dickons, Oscar Vincent said that the theft was of low-value and that it was easily detected.
The 39-year-old is also due before a judge at the Isle of Wight Crown later this month after admitting pushing a woman off her bike.
Dickons was handed a £40 fine and ordered to pay £11.90 compensation. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £16 surcharge fee.
What is wrong with these people.
I am guessing lives off the state and the State pays
his fines, so zero punishment in real terms.
Why has no one cottoned on this is the same fella who pushed that poor cyclist off the wall in sandown!
it’ll be all that stolen wine thinking he’s in a UFC cage while people are sat having a rest!! I do remember this nipper and he was a good lad before the glasses of wine got the better of him. Must have been through trauma. Throw the book at his Gov and Judge…and leave some wine in the shop for the rest of us folk Darren…cheers

I quite like Oscar, but submitting a defence that “it was of low value” is not a reason that should be used, (in my opinion).
At a certain point, you just put sick dogs out of their misery. Bring back corporal and capital punishment for useless drinkers like ths.
