An ambitious Isle of Wight-based startup has achieved national recognition after winning the prestigious Pitch Your Plan Live 2026 competition at UK Construction Week in London.
Co-founders Lindsay Mattinson and Lewis Wood travelled to the capital to pitch their SaaS platform, Pulse, live on stage at Excel London in front of a panel of leading construction industry experts, investors, and innovators.
Sponsored by global construction consultancy Gleeds and innovation funding specialists RCK Partners, the competition brought together emerging businesses from across the UK to showcase the future of construction technology and innovation.
Following a series of live presentations at one of the industry’s biggest annual events, the Island entrepreneurs were announced as the overall winners of the Design and Build UK Pitch Your Plan 2026 competition.
Pulse impressed judges with its commercial potential, practical application, and forward-thinking approach to digital transformation within architecture and construction practices.
Pulse is an AI-powered business platform designed for architecture firms, bringing projects, people and client communications into one connected system instead of relying on multiple disconnected tools.
The platform combines drawings, approvals, updates and decision-making in one place, while using AI to automate tasks such as drafting client updates, monitoring projects and tracking deadlines. Developers say the aim is to reduce administration, improve oversight and allow firms to focus more on design and delivery.
Speaking after the announcement, co-founder Lindsay Mattinson said:
“Winning this competition on a national stage is an incredible moment for us, and to receive recognition from such respected industry leaders is something we’re hugely proud of.”
Co-founder Lewis Wood added:
“This feels like the beginning of something really special for us. Architecture practices have been working around disconnected systems for years, and we genuinely believe Pulse can change the way the industry works.”
UK Construction Week, held annually at Excel London, attracts thousands of professionals from across the built environment sector and is widely regarded as one of the industry’s most influential events.
