Walkers are being invited to pull on their boots and explore the Isle of Wight this October, with the first wave of walks for the 2026 Isle of Wight Autumn Walking Festival now available to book.
The multi-award-winning festival will return from 3rd October until 11th October, offering a variety of guided walks across the Island.
Organised by Visit Isle of Wight and sponsored by Outdooractive, the festival brings together local volunteer walk leaders to showcase their favourite routes while sharing stories and knowledge along the way.
The programme ranges from coastal adventures and countryside rambles to walks exploring the Isle of Wight’s history, wildlife and lesser-known locations.
Shorter routes are available for those looking for a leisurely outing, while experienced walkers can tackle longer and more challenging adventures.
With more than 500 miles of footpaths and over half of the Island designated as an Isle of Wight National Landscape, alongside its UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status, organisers hope the festival will encourage both residents and visitors to explore on foot.
The majority of walks are free, although booking is essential. Some walk leaders may request donations for a chosen charity, while other walks are fee-paying.

“Whether you’re an experienced walker looking for a new challenge, enjoy exploring local history and wildlife, or simply want to spend a few hours outdoors enjoying some spectacular scenery, there really is something for everyone.
“Our volunteer walk leaders bring the programme to life, sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm and taking visitors and residents to some of their favourite places around the Island.
“The Walking Festival is an important part of our programme to encourage visitors to experience the Isle of Wight outside the traditional summer season, supporting our local tourism businesses and showcasing just how much there is to enjoy here throughout the year.”
Travel, accommodation and other offers are also available for those taking part in the festival.
