A pick-up truck has smashed into street furniture and come to rest on its side in a dramatic nighttime crash on Ryde Esplanade tonight (Saturday).
Those out enjoying a drink in the town were shocked when a red Mitsubishi L200 collided with a lamp post and a large exotic plant, forcing the vehicle onto its side.
The crash happened at around 22:40.
A sea of blue lights have now descended on the seafront, with paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service tending to at least 1 injured individual.
Firefighters from Ryde are also on scene, but no persons appear trapped inside the vehicle.
Esplanade has been closed in both directions between Dover Street and Union Street, with local diversions in place.

Makes one wonder how motorists crash into
street furniture!

And where would the buses go you prat.
Don’t be a Numpty all your life, not all roads / streets
