A new monthly breakfast club for armed forces veterans, serving current and previous members and their families, is set to launch in Cowes later this month.
The Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs initiative, hosted by local pub, The Fountain Inn, will officially begin on Tuesday (26th May), kicking off their monthly event.
The club will take place every 4th Tuesday of each month from 09:30 to 11:30 at the High Street venue.
Organisers say the event is open to veterans and current members of the Army, Royal Navy, RAF, Reserves and Merchant Navy, as well as their families.
With help from a similar club in Southampton, the Netley AFVBC, the breakfast club aims to provide an informal setting where attendees can connect with fellow veterans and service personnel, share stories and build friendships within the armed forces community on the Isle of Wight.
A full English breakfast will be available for around £10, with discounts offered to Blue Light Card and Defence Discount Card holders.
Groups of more than 10 people will also receive 20% off.
The event is being supported by Red Funnel and, following the launch event, will take place on the 4th Tuesday of every month.
No booking is required and organisers say everyone is welcome.
A really thoughtful idea, it’s about someone did something for the vets, because the government gives them no respect or caring for the risks they took defending this Country what they have now turned into a shit hole and would rather favourise illegals. I think £10 is a bit steep for a breakfast though? I wish them all the best and hope it goes well, they certainly have earned it
