Blackgang Chine unveiled its latest family attraction at the weekend with the opening of the newly refurbished Blackgang Express.
The gentle family train ride takes visitors on a journey through Blackgang Chine’s past, featuring dinosaurs, cavemen and familiar characters inspired by the park’s long history.
Located behind Blackgang Beach, the attraction forms part of one of the park’s busiest areas, alongside views out to sea, seating areas, treats from iScream and nearby attractions including Shipwrecked, Waterforce, the Hall of Mirrors and the Whale Room.
Many Islanders may recognise the ride from its previous life as the Cows Express at Robin Hill. The attraction has now been fully refurbished with a new look, rebuilt station and updated theme celebrating Blackgang Chine’s heritage.
Dan White, General Manager at Blackgang Chine, has said:
“We’re thrilled to see the expansion of what is already a hugely popular area with the addition of the Blackgang Express.
“The team have worked so hard and it’s great to bring another multigenerational ride into the park, and one we know long-time Blackgang fans will really love the theming of.”

The Blackgang Express has a 90cm height restriction, making it suitable for younger children and families. Visitors can also watch the trains from a newly created seating area around the station.
The attraction forms part of Blackgang Chine’s continued investment in new and refreshed experiences for visitors, despite ongoing challenges facing the tourism and leisure sector.
The opening also coincides with the park’s Wild West Week celebrations, which see western-themed entertainment taking place across the site during the half-term holiday.

It’s great, but excessive ENTRY fees are not great.
