Emergency services are in attendance at a road traffic collision involving a Ford Focus and a minibus from The Bay CE School on Brading Down Road this afternoon (Tuesday).
The incident occurred shortly after 15:30 and has seen a Ford Focus collide with a school minibus, with the car ending up on the grass verge by the side of the road.
The other vehicle involved – a Ford Transit minibus – has lost its front wheel, sustaining heavy front-end damage and partially leaving the carriageway.
2 paramedic crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene alongside en Enhanced Care Paramedic and an Operational Commander.
Police are not currently in attendance.
The occupants of the Focus are currently receiving the majority of treatment by paramedics at the scene, whilst those on the minibus have been transferred to another minibus.
The road remains open with traffic under direction from members of the public and paramedics.

UPDATE @ 16:54 – Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that a total of 4 people have suffered minor injuries.
Recovery of the vehicles is underway and the road is expected to re-open once complete.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – It has been confirmed that 10 children and 2 staff members were on board the minibus, with 4 children taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The group were travelling to a sporting fixture at the time of the crash.

School bus involved and the police took an hour to arrive. One for you, Ms Jones?
It says police are on scene but it doesn’t say when they arrived so maybe best not to jump to conclusions.
It actually does show it took an hour
No it doesn’t, the update was at 1630 stating “police are now on scene” not “police have just arrived”.
Typical jumping to conclusions…
Again nobody jumping to conclusions it also says the incident happend at 3.30 and public and paramedics directing traffic THE POLICE’S JOB and the update is given when the police arrive which was at 4.30 and remember it’s the digital age this article is online digital the update appears within a minute or two how ever long it takes the reporter to take out his phone and type it out and hit send we don’t wait a week for it to be printed in the 21st century so 3.30 to 4.30 is an hour no ? or has that gone the way of the doe doe like there are only two genders has
I’ve previously had to direct traffic until police arrive because they can’t be there instantly, and I believe you will find your timings are WAY off regarding what time they got there, so keep your moronic & ill-informed comments to yourself instead of trying to be inflammatory..
and if someone didn’t jump on the gas pedal this wouldn’t have happened… maybe.. allegedly.. according to “experts”
it does. crash at 3:30, policene at 4:30, an hour late because they were all on T break ;(
Well it happened at 3.30 and the update that police had arrived on scene was at 4.30 and when I went to school 3.30 to 4.30 was an hour so nobody jumping to conclusions the evidence of the useless inept police is there if your smart enough to do the the math it is simple math too.
God you lot need to get a life does it matter when the police turned up it was a accident does no one care about the people involved.sad people
They were too busy elsewhere collecting revenue for the corrupt government traitors..
Everyone sorted, ambulance dealing with minor injuries and public helping traffic flo,an hour later ( probably had to catch ferry) police arrive and close road ( instead of relieving public and directing traffic ) close the road leading to traffic nightmare for many and potentially further accidents due to other impatient drivers !.
They close the road so they can check for evidence and clear away rubble that could be a danger to other road users you twit !! Evidence like tyre marks, skids… etc.
Only when a serious or life changing, rest are left to insurance, after an hour a few hundred car’s lorries etc would change some any. If they thought that serious how come took them an hour,on blue lights should be able to get anywhere on island in 5/10mins as don’t all come from Freshwater!
Closing all roads is the norm nowadays especially island roads, let’s cause confusion and maximum inconvenience to roads users.
Be careful, paramedics. That looks like the blob!
My twin 8 year old girls were in that minibus so let’s keep comments nice! Thank god they are alright and everyone is still alive. Thankfully the minibus had a dash cam and the police are fully involved….Good luck to the driver who could have destroyed mine and others family’s lives just before Christmas
Glad your children are ok
Anyway hope the moron with the lead foot and can’t drive for shit has a happy Xmas hahahahaha
