Festival revellers are today (Thursday) descending on the Isle of Wight ahead of this weekend’s Isle of Wight Festival at Seaclose Park in Newport.
Although it was an overcast start to the day, the blue skies have broke through and music lovers are in high spirits as they turn up at the Island’s ferry ports en-route to a weekend of legendary performances from the likes of The Who, Queen + Adam Lambert, Faithless and the Stereophonics.
The Festival gates were opened earlier on, but not before the site was blessed by Reverend Mark Evans. He arrived on site to bless the main stage for a successful festival and for good weather. Rev Evans also visited the pulpit on site which is available for all festival goers all weekend to give a sermon on whatever takes their fancy.
The crowds haven’t been as strong and constant as seen in previous years, but even more Festival fans are to arrive on the Island tomorrow.
Delays are being kept to a minimum, however if you are not travelling to the Festival site you are advised to find an alternative route into and around Newport.
Stay connected with Island Echo for all the latest traffic & travel information throughout Thursday, Friday and Monday
