A well-known Isle of Wight pub has been put up for sale, with its current owners confirming they are ready to move on after 5 years at the helm.
The Bugle Inn in Brading is to be placed on the open market, with owners Daniel and Jasmine Ashley-Walker announcing the decision in a message shared with customers on social media.
The couple say there are no immediate plans to close the pub and that it will continue operating as normal while a buyer is sought. The lease is set to be marketed through Scotcher and Co.
Explaining their decision, the husband and wife team said they feel the time is right to look towards the future, with their children now grown up and a new chapter ahead.
They have reassured regulars that nothing will change in the short term, adding that even once a buyer is found, any transition is likely to take several months.
Daniel and Jasmine Ashley-Walker have run The Bugle for the past 5 years, building up a strong local following with food nights, live music and family-friendly events.
The news has prompted an outpouring of reaction from customers, many expressing sadness at the announcement and चिंता about the future of the popular venue.
One customer said:
“The Caulkheads and latterly the Bugle have been our preferred locals since we moved over.
“That level of attention and friendliness will be hard to replicate.”
Another has described the move as:
“A very big blow for Brading… a hard act to follow.”
In March last year, the Ashley-Walkers sold another Island business, The Caulkheads in Sandown, which they had purchased in 2023.
