Residents across the Island can today shape the future of the local council as polling stations across the garden Isle open for you to cast your vote.
A total of 40 seats have been fielded for the Conservative Party, while Labour has only 19 candidates standing. The once dominant Liberal Democrats have only 7 candidates with a total of 30 independent fighting for a seat. The controversial UKIP party have 29 candidates running.

You have until 22:00 tonight (Thursday) to vote for the town or parish councilor you want to win the seat in your area.
