Polling stations across the Isle of Wight have opened this morning (Thursday) for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections.
The region’s current commissioner, Simon Hayes (Independent) is once again running for the role and hopes to achieve a second term in office.
The Island’s only resident candidate is Robin Price from Seaview, who is running for Labour.
In total there are 7 candidates:
• Richard James Adair (Liberal Democrats)
• Simon Hayes (Independent)
• Don Jerrard (Independent)
• Michael George Lane (The Conservative Party Candidate)
• Robin Andrew Price (Labour Party)
• Roy Swales (UKIP)
• Steve Watts (Zero Tolerance Policing ex Chief)
Polling stations are open from 07:00 – 22:00. Those registered to vote should have received a polling card (pictured above) through the post with the selected polling station indicated.
Please note: The polling station for the St Lawrence area will be St Lawrence Village Hall instead of St Rhadagund’s Holiday Centre. Meanwhile the Parkside Pavilion on Vectis Road will be the polling station for Osborne East and Osborne West in East Cowes.
Island Echo will be live from the count in Newport tomorrow morning (Friday). Stay with us for the result and updates throughout.
