More than 20,000 Hovertravel customers used the operator’s Advance Fares during the school summer holidays, with passengers saving up to 12.5% by booking their journeys ahead.
The figures show strong take-up of the fare initiative during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, as families, day-trippers and regular travellers sought better-value journeys between Southsea and Ryde.
Hovertravel’s Advance Fares are an ongoing initiative designed to reward customers who book before travelling, with savings available across the company’s timetable.
The scheme remains available beyond the summer holiday period, giving passengers the opportunity to reduce the cost of travel throughout the year.
Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, has said:
“It’s fantastic to see more than 20,000 customers taking advantage of our Advance Fares over the school summer holidays. Planning ahead has clearly appealed to customers looking for great value, particularly during the busy summer period.
“The important thing is that these savings don’t end with the summer holidays. Advance Fares are an ongoing part of our fare offering, so customers can continue to make savings throughout the winter and beyond. Whether you are planning a day out, visiting friends and family or travelling regularly, booking ahead is the savvy choice.”
Hovertravel operates a 10-minute journey between Southsea and Ryde, providing a fast link between the mainland and the Isle of Wight.
The company says it is continuing to look for ways to offer customers greater value while maintaining its frequent year-round service.
