Police have seized 2 vehicles that were being driven with no insurance on the Isle of Wight this evening (Saturday).
The 1st vehicle, a silver Toyota Hiace van was seized in Wootton at Lushington Garage after checks showed the driver – a woman – was driving without insurance.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary then followed a 2nd vehicle – a Nissan Qashqai – down Newport High Street before stopping it outside Newport Guildhall.
Both vehicles have been recovered by Bartletts.
The drivers of both cars have been reported for the offences and will be summoned to court at a later date.

Should be Towing cars away that are parked on pavements blocking
Pedestrian access.
Start with Great Preston Road Ryde.
You paying for the tow truck?
Ryde don’t count its a shit hole
Hello? If you haven’t read it, this is about driving uninsured and has nothing to do with Great Preston Road or any other Road… driving without insurance is far far more dangerous than parking in such a way that you’re not blocking the road, so that other vehicles, including buses and refuse collection lorries, can pass safely. If you’re so fat you can’t pass a car that’s got two wheels on the pavement I suggest gastric bypass as you’re clearly morbidly obese… otherwise, You have LEGS (or wheels if you’re in a wheelchair), so use them and cross the road you muppet! Jesus, you inbreeds are so boring with you constant chirping about this crap
Try doing it when an idiot is parked completely on the pavement
The idiot who parks like this has legs, but is an inconsiderate Muppet
like you.
How can a mobility scooter climb up a pavement between cars.
Time you went back to school and got an education.
This is the answer I expect to hear from someone living in Great Preston Road.
An uneducated answer.
Probably full of Tatt’s and smokes like a chimney!
If the moron stops parking like a tw*t I will stop mentionong it.
Maybe they need a refresher driving test so they are taught what Pavements
are for.
Not for Fcuking cars to park on them!
Can you please explain why a lot of car owners on this road have drives, yet still park on the road? But I do agree this is about uninsured drivers….
“driving without insurance is far far more dangerous”
I have never understood that sort of expression. Yes the car should have insurance BUT how on earth does not having it make the car/person driving it far far more dangerous on the road? Having that insurance policy does nothing to magicly make them better at handling a car does it?
Not Even about that.. it’s about driving uninsured. Illiterate inbreed
You must-have been looking in the Mirror when you wrote this message
Idiot!
And their excuses for not having any valid insurance is…….?????
Pay up like the rest of us.
I bey play the mental health card
Bit like the large van that parks along this Road
Was without MOT for over a year.
How many of these cars are actually registered to the correct owner addresses? Most I bet, especially on Fraggle Rock. In that case it would be very easy to send a couple of the lower grade blue-bands out to see them and check. But does that ever happen? No, it does not, nor does it with car tax either. A bit of effective pro-active policing would do a lot more than an occasional headline grabbing game of chance!! It might (lord forbid) even free up the full officers to do a bit of real policing on our streets!
But you’re complaining about locating the registered owners of all these untaxed/MOT’d cars left laying around the place and clogging-up paths/roads etc, but it’s not the police’s job… it’s the council and DVLA that deal with such matters..
From the article it does seem to be the police that have been dealing with the matter. I think DVLA and council are pelt differently because they are different entities??
Proactive Policing????? Wouldn’t that make a nice change?
That’s all it is on that island no ins no mot no tax drink / drug driving or speeding
Spotted car no mot for 7 years! Which means no tax or insurance in that time!
And what did you do? Nothing i bet
Also love the way cars park on grass verges and pavement even tho there’s double yellow lines .
idiots think as there not parked actually on the double yellows it’s ok to mount pavements and grass banks .
someones not doing their job of policing this .
when I travel to work at GKN there always on York Ave pavements and grass verges causing pedestrians to walk on the road ,,, accidents waiting to happen here
Try the council who are actually supposed to deal with that before bashing the cops..
Same along Great Preston Road
There are no Double Yellow lines, but people still are allowed to block
Pavements with idiotic parking.
No one seems to have any idea how to stop this!
Towing Companies would make a fortune on this Island.
Regent Street Shanklin is an example.
Double Yellow lines, cop shop up the Road and people still park on pavements.
They don’t respect the law or other people.
I spotted a car with no tax and 7 people in all going shop lifting in turn, tried to ring police and it said put a report in following day and then cut me off, some use this 101 is
To be clear then, you were sitting/standing watching 7 people in a car (possible, but must have been a big car) and somehow you knew they were going into a shop to steal stuff? I assume you followed each of them, in turn as you say, into the shop to deduce this? Then you decided to check the car registration plate online to see if it had an MOT and insurance? And then you rang 101 but got cut off.
It’s not that I don’t believe your story, but I have to ask, have you embellished it just a little bit to make a point?
