Staddlestones will no longer be the Isle of Wight’s Peugeot dealer, with Premier Motors taking over the franchise – but the Ryde-based firm is to become a main dealer for both Vauxhall and Leapmotor as part of a major brand reshuffle.
The Peugeot sales contract is being transferred to Premier Motors in Newport, bringing an end to a decades-old dealership status between Staddlestones and the French manufacturer. However, the company will continue to support Peugeot owners through ongoing servicing and aftersales work at its existing facilities on Brading Road.
Premier Motors, part of the Greenhous Group Ltd, will begin operating Peugeot sales from its Riverway site alongside existing Ford and MG franchises. Dealer Principal Neil Gordon will head up the brand’s retail operations on the Isle of Wight.
Meanwhile, Staddlestones will become a full dealership for Vauxhall and Leapmotor. It will be the first time Leapmotor – a Chinese all-electric vehicle brand – will be available on the Isle of Wight. The business will continue to operate aftersales for Nissan, Fiat and Abarth.
Chris Perkis, Managing Director of Staddlestones, has said:
“This deal brings in an exciting time for our business, enabling us to continue to look after our existing Peugeot customers whilst bringing in a huge new range of cars and commercial vehicles with Vauxhall, and the brand-new all-electric Leapmotor brand.”
Danny Minshall, National Retail Director at Greenhous Group Ltd (Premier Motors), added:
“We are delighted to welcome Peugeot into the Premier Motors portfolio. This transition creates a strong platform for growth, ensures continuity for Peugeot customers, and allows both businesses to focus clearly on their respective brand strategies.
“Under Neil Gordon’s leadership, we look forward to developing the Peugeot franchise and delivering a consistently high-quality customer experience for the Isle of Wight.”
Staddlestones has confirmed that no jobs are at risk as a result of the change and, in fact, recruitment may increase as new brands are introduced to the showroom.
The deal is set to complete at the end of February.

Lets keep the internal combustion engine, proven and more fun to drive. That may be why the average age of a car on the road is about 9 years old.
I don’t like or want an EV, and I don’t think they will save our planet.
