Plans have been unveiled for a new outbuilding classroom at Medina College — adding the environment to the curriculum.
The new structure is proposed to be suitable for pupils to have a covered and secure space to undertake outdoor-related lessons.
Documents submitted to the Isle of Wight Council show the small building would be built near other school buildings on the East of the site, if approved.
Planning agents, on behalf of the school, Elmstone Architectural, say it would provide students with an outdoor, environment and sustainability-focused curriculum.
The new building would also be hidden from the view of dwellings on Fairlee Road by the existing hedgerow.
To view the plans (22/00556/FUL) you can visit the council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until 4th May.
Why can the school not submit their own plans for a shed, not say much for their teaching. Surely teaching staff or 6th form could of done as course work etc. Elmstone Architectural !
What on earth is going on !!!

Can quite see the point. Learning is done to a whiteboard and teacher not daydreaming looking out of windows. And if there’s a class that wants to go outside, then just go outside. They don’t need to go outside to a room that is outside only to go outside.
