A rowing boat in difficulty off the coast of Brook resulted in a call out for 2 lifeboats and HM Coastguard yesterday (Saturday).
First informed of a vessel in difficulty off of Brook at around 13:45, Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams, a lifeboat from Yarmouth RNLI, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat and vessels in the area were sent to assist.
The crew – training ahead of the World’s Toughest Row event this winter – were rescued by lifeboat and taken to land.
Designed to self-right should it capsize, the vessel has since run aground at Brook Chine, where it continues to be monitored.
Having been anchored to a large rock on the shore, the vessel remains in situ.
