Today’s official figures show that no new cases of COVID-19 have been found on the Isle of Wight, marking a significant improvement in the situation since January.
The total number of cases sits at 6,644 – a number which rose by just 1 yesterday. The daily increase has been in single digits since 18th February.
The 7-day rolling average per 100,000 people, up to 25th February, has dropped to 23.3 and is likely to drop even further as the data lag catches up. Just 2 months ago that number was 933.2.
Data from Public Health England, put into a graph format above, shows the rapid decline in positive cases as lockdown measures impact on social interaction and the COVID-19 vaccine takes effect.
Around 1,000 lateral flow tests are being carried out across the Island each day and around 4,000 PCR tests are being completed each week.

They be coming over on the boat again now u say that
It’s a holiday destination, nature of the beast living in an area where tourism is a major revenue source. Many times companies have tried to make the island their new home and the NIMBY crowed stopped them. So we we’ll always need the tourists money whilst these people prevent the islands growth.
Give it a rest and put your pitch forks away ….. just for once.
Must really piss you off that there are no armed forces at the ferry terminal of
Time to get out and about and an after Covid party now then!
Good news and yes we need tourism and quite easily solved. Covid passport to prove you have had the jab. No one allowed on the island unless they have. No problem for ferry companies customers just show the card. Not rocket science.
Let’s get your Hope’s up! Then crash you down again, with news of rises after you have all left your home. You couldn’t write this stuff
We have to remember that IOW residents are just as much to blame as mainlanders for passing on cases.. People here who have had the vaccine will now feel invincible and travel to the mainland and back to see family. IOW residents seem to have the ignorant mindset of thinking we’re all safe, we can’t do any harm. Sure mainlanders coming over here could bring cases with them and put us at risk, but IOW residents would be no different if they were to go there and back.
I don’t think you will find Islanders own properties in London when the going gets tough…….. so stop spouting rubbish, tier 1 to tier 4 in December because of people coming here…. I heard them openly bragging in the street, “Oh we are safe now we are down on the Island” Quote.
IOW folk just as much to blame. Get your head out the crazy ‘blame bubble’ you live in!!
Which many did pre christmas !!
Dear Madam,
There is a distinct difference twixt Isle of Wight residents and people actually from the Isle of Wight. Granted, I know some careless locals who decided the mainland was the place to go at Christmas for a shell suit or hi-fidelity radiogram. However, real locals are so yokel we don’t care to leave. We also resent the invasion of the ‘I have a few quid, so the law doesn’t apply’ brigade. Pandemic, or not, Grockles ain’t welcome.
I tried to arrange a parcel on the fastcat but it’s not running. I asked if they could bring a parcel over and they said no because the ticket office is closed due to covid to protect the staff. So that means I will have to go on the ferry to pick the parcel up. If it was not important I would not bother. The world is getting more insane each day.
won’t Hovercraft do it ?
What lockdown measures ?? People are out and about as normal.. and just look at all the visitors, especially over the weekend… Thought we were/are supposed to STAY HOME… the illuminated sign at Coppin’s Bridge should be at ferry ports, both sides of Solent !! Not that anyone actually cares
