An adventure book aimed at young teens, which has the Isle of Wight at its heart, has been released in paperback and Kindle formats.
Did you know that the Island has a network of secret tunnels, where freedom fighters travel underground, unseen, by bicycle? And did you know that, for centuries, a select group of islanders have been entrusted with guarding Britain from its enemies?
In adventure novel ‘Mouse’ by Fiona Beddow, all this is true. Set on the Isle of Wight, ‘Mouse’ is a story of courage, danger and double-crossing, in a world where the police have turned bad.
Young teen Laurel Smith is smuggled onto the island by a network of rebels, after her family are wrongly arrested. She soon finds herself embroiled in a plot to overthrow the police and restore justice. Her once quiet life becomes a tangle of subterfuge, mystery and fake identity…
Author Fiona Beddow, a teacher and former musician, has holidayed on the Isle of Wight for the past 12 years.
Fiona says:
“I love the peace of the island. I love the seclusion, the calm friendliness and the slower pace of life. It’s the logical place to hide a group of fierce rebels – it’s somewhere nobody would think to look for them!”
The opening chapter of the book sees girl hero Laurel running along the coastline at Bembridge and there are many other island locations to look out for, too.
‘Mouse’ is for 11-14’s and is available on Amazon, in Kindle and paperback versions.
