The main road through Havenstreet has been closed in both directions this morning (Wednesday) as a result of a road traffic collision between a motorcycle and a car.
Police and paramedics are currently on the scene on the straight stretch of road at Combley Woods – between the steam railway and Briddlesford Road.
A male motorcyclist is lying injured in the road after colliding with a blue Vauxhall Astra.
Motorists are being diverted away from the incident via Firestone Copse Road. Traffic is heavy.
UPDATE @ 09:05 – The road remains closed to all traffic this morning.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have attended the scene due to a fuel spill. 1 appliance from Ryde was mobilised.
Meanwhile, the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance has landed at St Mary’s Hospital. It is yet to be confirmed if the motorcyclist is to be airlifted to the mainland.

That looks a very serious RTC… It would appear that the bike has hit the car head on….
Maybe the car hit the bike head on?
If the picture is to be believed, I don’t see how the car could have got any closer to the hedge. But it may also have move over out of the way after the collision.
Or the car hit the bike head on?!
Sonic. The picture shows the car parked after the incident. Not the position of the vehicles at the time of the incident

Another collision on the IOW not a surprise! Prediction time between now and the end of the year there will be a minimum of 5 more collisions on the IOW. But in the minds of most the readers on this site it will be no one’s fault. What a time to be alive! I hope motorcyclist makes a full recovery and the driver.
There is a fault in every accident, that fault in NOT always a human fault, occasionally human fault is the cause, possibly most of the time, take the time to think before reacting.
Unless you actually see what happened you do not know the cause. What ever caused the accident people have most likely suffered physically and mentally, I wish all a full recovery, do not add to their suffering by judging from the luxury of the high seat above all others you sit on.
KEV, there is only ever person at fault or both parties involved at fault. I have spoken about this already. And mechanical faults, medical conditions, age, fatigue etc are all 100% the responsibility of the driver therefore 100% the fault of operator of the vehicle.
If you ever have a collision on this island and its not your fault. Make sure you get back to me and let me know if you hold the person accountable for the collision. Based on the warped view that you have on accountability if you ever hold a person that caused the crash at fault, then you are a rank hypocrite.
I hope you never have a collision on this island or anyone else on the island for that matter, which is EXACTY why the bad road users on the island must be called out for IT and held to accountable.
How can you be so disconnected from reality and say that “do not add to their suffering by judging from the luxury of the high seat above all others you sit on.” Kev that is insane to imply that me calling bad road users out as “from the luxury of the high seat above all others you sit on”.
You talk about me adding to suffering which is false. The guy who was riding the bike is probably in St Marys hospital right now in extreme pain. Will be off work losing money, maybe has kids depending on him, maybe has a mortgage or rent due, he might have life changing injuries. More than likely if it was not his fault, he will be livid with the driver.
More bad driving on the I o w
More bad driving on the I o w…..that’s what you always say….does your brain work in copy and paste, be a bit more imaginative and use a bit more vocabulary.
If you’ve nothing good to say, say nothing. Clearly you can’t handle being brave enough to use your real name, let alone make such pathetic comments to the people involved.
Let’s hope you never have an accident eh? You absolute oxygen thief.
Hope all involved are going to be OK. It’s always the person on the motorcycle that gets the blame just wish some times those who have nothing positive to say would just shut up and engaged their brain if they have one before their mouths
