A festival goer who was found in possession of large quantities of several illicit substances was hoping to sell the drugs to fund his ketamine habit, a court has heard.
28-year-old Lee Draboczi, of King Street in Liverpool, admitted possession with intent to supply Ketamine, possession with intent to supply MDMA and possession with intent to supply Cocaine when he appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday (28th July).
Crown Prosecutor Liz Miller told the court that on 17th June 2023, security staff at the Isle of Wight Festival detained a male after they suspected he was in possession of Class A drugs.
When he was asked if he had substances on him, Draboczi said no, however, security noticed a bulge in his trousers near his groin.
When probed, the Liverpudlian said that he had more drugs in a secure locker elsewhere on site and that he had no other personal belongings because he had been robbed and his tent slashed.
Court heard how police seized several packets of white powder, bags of ketamine and 15 triangular tabs of MDMA from Draboczi and his locker.
The 28-year-old was convicted of a similar offence during his time with the Foreign Legion in Antwerp, Belgium, the court heard.
Defending, Michael McGoldrick told the court that his client was hoping to sell the drugs to other festival goers in a bid to fund his own ketamine addiction. He also went on to add that the case had been hanging over his client’s head for 3 some years.
Magistrates adjourned the case until 11th September for a pre-sentence report to be compiled.
Draboczi will be sentenced before a judge at the Isle of Wight Crown Court due to the severity of the charges.

First thing that happens when you join the legion is that you are given a new name and a passport if you complete five years service, so the name he has now is not the one he was born under.
