Red Funnel recently welcomed 20 guests aboard Red Jet 7 for a very special 90-minute Solent cruise, made possible through a charity auction in support of Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
The experience was won by a successful bidder at a charity dinner and auction held in December, where Red Funnel donated the exclusive prize to help raise funds for the island charity.
Joined by family and friends, the winning bidder and their guests enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on the water, taking in views of the Solent Forts and the Needles from the unique vantage point of one of Red Funnel’s hi-speed passenger services.
Red Jet 7’s Captains provided a rare opportunity to visit the bridge and meet the crew behind one of the Island’s most recognised services, offering guests a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into the operation of Red Jet 7, as well as the opportunity for some stunning photos with the Needles as a backdrop.
As part of this exclusive event, guests were welcomed on board with a glass of fizz and enjoyed a luxury afternoon tea featuring freshly baked scones, handmade savouries and sweet treats, helping to create a memorable experience for guests while supporting a worthy local cause.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the auction in December raised £11,000 for Mountbatten Isle of Wight, helping the charity continue its incredible work supporting people facing death, dying and bereavement across the Isle of Wight.
Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel, said:
“Mountbatten IOW makes such a difference to so many people across the Isle of Wight, and we’re so happy that this experience helped raise funds for this vital local charity. The Red Funnel team was privileged to welcome our guests on board and share something a little different with them.
“For us, the event was an opportunity to recognise and say thank you for the fund-raising efforts Sara Causier, our winning bidder, who does so much for Mountbatten IOW and, most importantly, supporting the vital care and support that the Mountbatten teams provide for island families every day.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and helped make the event such a success.”
Sara Causier, who won the auction for the exclusive trip, said:
“The service, food and hospitality were exceptional, served by fantastic staff. Everything went above and beyond our expectations!
“The Captain was so professional but attentive and how privileged to be joined be the CEO and operations director who made everyone feel welcome!
“The Isle of Wight is lucky to have Red Funnel offering this exclusive service, so don’t miss out, it was a breathtaking memorable few hours.”
