A man who claimed he kicked out a Southern Vectis bus window because he believed he was being followed by 3 cars has been sentenced at court.
Simon Flux, 44, of St Swithins Close in Bouldnor, appeared before magistrates for sentencing this week, having previously admitted a single charge of criminal damage.
It was on 27th December last year that Southern Vectis contacted Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary to say that a male had kicked out the rear window of a bus and jumped from the top deck.
Police arrived at the scene in Freshwater, where Flux was pointed out to them by the Southern Vectis employee. When questioned by officers, Flux admitted to kicking out the window because he was being followed by 3 cars.
Court heard how he had initially left the scene before returning because he ‘felt bad’.
Flux also made suggestions that there were several people already on the bus who had been following him from Newport.
The damage to the bus was valued at £916.21.
Defending, Oscar Vincent told the court that his client had been working with Inclusion and that he was currently clean of substances.
Magistrates ordered Flux to pay compensation of £916.21 to Southern Vectis.
