For the first time, Naturezones Wildlife Education Trust will be taking part in The National Lottery Open Week – with Islanders invited along to the wildlife field study centre at Shide to make a willow fat ball feeder. The Trust will be offering free entry to National Lottery players on Tuesday 12th, Thursday 14th and Sunday 17th March, between 11:00-15:00. On arrival visitors will be given willow stems and shown how to make a fat ball feeder for the little birds. Alternative uses for it may be discovered, such as a plant or candle holder. Visitors will then be welcome to explore the grounds of the field study centre. Angela Hewitt BEM, Director, says:
“It gives us great pleasure to be taking part in The National Lottery Open Week this year. “As with many other organisations across the UK, The Heritage Lottery has been a big player in the development of Naturezones making it a dedicated wildlife education centre. This is all thanks to Lottery players. “We’re delighted to have the opportunity say thank you to everyone who has bought a National Lottery ticket, making a vital contribution to good causes and in turn, supporting us”.
Free entry upon presentation of a lottery ticket (physical/digital). Visitors are encouraged to travel via bus or walk due to the limited space in the on-site car park. Also taking part in the Open Week is English Heritage’s Osborne House and Yarmouth Castle.
