Sainsbury’s and Argos stores across the Ise of Wight have teamed up with local schools to donate tablets for children educating at home during the coronavirus lockdown.
All 5 of the Isle of Wight’s Sainsburys stores located in Newport, West Cowes, Sandown, Ryde and Freshwater, alongside 2 Argos stores, decided to donate their community budget by presenting 20 Samsung tablets for children across the Isle of Wight.
These were presented to the schools for distribution to disadvantaged children who did not have a device to complete their schoolwork from home during lockdown.
Maria Bird, Store Manager at Sainsbury’s Cowes, said:
“We’re really excited to be helping a local cause so close to our hearts – this has been a great way for all of our island stores to come together and support children within our local community. In a year that has been hard for many, we are committed to doing everything we can to make a positive difference to the community we operate in. To be able to gift 20 tablets to local schools was such a privilege & I couldn’t be prouder to that Sainsburys continues to make such a difference.”

Brilliant idea, really nice to see a news story about helping disadvantaged children. Great to see the community pulling together.
Disagree, it is US the customers paying for this, UNLESS it is coming out of the wages of ‘those’ portraying it is ‘they’ who is giving.
