Cowes RNLI launched for the second time in 10 hours this morning (Thursday) to assist a fishing boat near East Cowes.
The lifeboat was tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard at 08:10 when the fishing boat ‘Georgia’ declared a pan pan emergency following engine failure near Osborne Bay.
The casualty vessel, with one man aboard, was towed to a mooring in the River Medina before the lifeboat returned to station at around 09:30.
Last night the sighting of a red flame sparked a search and rescue response, however Cowes RNLI were stood down after nothing was found.
