The running of a popular Shanklin hotel has been put into the spotlight today as Hampshire Constabulary call for a premises licence review following a ‘serious’ disturbance in December.
Police were called to Hollier’s Hotel, situated in the Old Village, on 1st December to reports of disorder both inside and outside the premises following an evening disco at the venue.
It is understood around 40 people were fighting and causing a general disturbance in the street, some of which were armed with glass bottles.
The licence review has been put forward as a number of conditions were broke, including no CCTV footage being available for the incident and glass bottles being taken outside of the building. In addition, a test purchase revealed that a member of staff served alcohol to a minor, namely a 16-year-old.
Proposed changes to the licence will be discussed by the Isle of Wight Council’s Regulatory Committee on Monday (11 th February).
