Monday 10th July – Friday 14th July 2023
• Christopher David Bloomfield, 19, of West Hill Road in Ryde, was found guilty of possession of a zombie knife in a private place. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 40 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £620 costs and a £114 surcharge
• Harrison Joseph Blake, 25, of West Street in Newport, admitted failing to comply with the requirements imposed following release from a period of imprisonment for grievous bodily harm. He was returned to prison for 7 days and ordered to pay £60 costs.
• Jonathan Easlea, 53, of The Fairway, Sandown pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and failing to report an accident. He was handed 9 penalty points on his licence and made subject to a 18-month community order with 200 hours of unpaid work and 30 rehabilitation days attached.
• Michael Knight, 31, of East Cowes Road, East Cowes pleaded guilty to taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent (TWOC), threat to damage/destroy property, criminal damage, assault by beating. He made subject subject to an 18-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 30 rehabilitation days attached, with a 9-month drug rehabilitation requirement. He was ordered to pay £870 compensation.
• Kevin Miller, 62, of Town Quay, Newport pleaded guilty to drink driving (170). He was handed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and banned from driving for 26 months with an extended re-test. He must complete a 90-day alcohol abstinence and 240 hours of unpaid work.
• Kenneth Gilpin, 63, of Odessa Boatyard, Little London pleaded guilty to drink driving (121). He was handed an 8-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and banned from driving for 30 months. He must complete 90 days alcohol abstinence and pay a fine of £120.
• Ewan Bird, 23, of Londesborough Road, Southsea pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation.
• Paul Brace, 38, of Well Street, Ryde pleaded guilty to using a motor vehicle on a road without a valid test certificate. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay costs of £85 with a £34 surcharge.
• Josiah Brent Bianchi, 19, of Hearn Street, Newport pleaded guilty to using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress. He was made subject to a community order until April 2024 with 15 rehabilitation days and 80 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Jamie Jenkins, 19, of Fairfield Gardens, Sandown pleaded guilty to being in charge of a motor vehicle with proportion of specified controlled drug above specified limit (cannabis). He was handed 10 penalty points, fined £116 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £46 surcharge.
• Daniel Skittlethorpe, 31, previously of Union Street, Ryde and now care of Fellows Road, Cowes pleaded guilty to 2x criminal damage and 2x assault by beating. He was made subject to a 24-community order with a 6-month Building Betters Relationships programme requirement totalling 30 days, alongside 25 rehabilitation days. He was ordered to pay £1,050 compensation and also ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge. Skittlethorpe was also made subject to a restraining order.
• Danny Tiller, 34, of Crossways Road, East Cowes pleaded guilty to drug driving (cannabis), using a vehicle without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He was banned from driving for 3 years, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £48 surcharge.
• Martin Hanrahan, 51, of HMP Isle of Wight pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker. He was handed a 12-week concurrent prison sentence and ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.
• Richard Alexander, 53, of Shide Path, Newport pleaded guilty to drink driving (111). He was banned from driving for 48 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Eleanor Gower-Crane, 26, of Osborne Road, East Cowes pleaded guilty to Drink driving (313 in urine). She was banned from driving for 25 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work. She was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Darren Saltmer, 34, of Sutton Way, Hull, pleaded guilty to drink driving (46). He was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £120, a swell as being ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.

Why are all the prison sentences suspended? Make them do the time and then be on a 12 month probation.
