The aim of the exhibition is to commemorate Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. This jubilee event also marks the formal re-opening of the extended Beckford Centre, aimed at making an increasing contribution to the life of the Cowes and the surrounding area.
Visits covered by the display will include the Queen’s investiture of the late Lord Louis Mountbatten as Governor of the Island at Carisbrooke Castle in 1965, and her last Island visit in 2012, when she came to Cowes as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom.
A formal opening, before specially invited guests, will be performed by the Isle of Wight’s Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Susie Sheldon, the Queen’s official representative on the Island, on Friday 27th May.
The exhibition is open daily to the public from Saturday 28th May until Saturday 11th June, covering the 4-day Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.
Photographs of all visits will be on display and admission is free. Opening times will be 10:00 to 16:00, although on the 2 Mondays it will open at 13:00, and on the 2 Thursdays it will open between 16:00 and 20:00.
4 day bank holiday, that’s a laugh. If you have a tight arse M.D. in charge your lucky to get any time off. Is Johnny Rotten invited ???
