The Isle of Wight’s Dermatology Service has reason to celebrate having achieved a positive CQC report after a first inspection at their new location in December.
The department moved out of St Mary’s Hospital in 2016 and has since gone from strength to strength in their custom, re-designed premises at The Lighthouse Clinic in Crocker Street, Newport.
The fully integrated service provides diagnosis and treatment for skin conditions, including skin cancers. They are able to offer surgical procedures, cryotherapy, PUVA (light therapy), routine and ‘Fast Track’ cancer assessments as well as non-NHS services such as Skin Camouflage, private Blood taking and private Dermatology appointments.
The unit is proud to have one of the best waiting times in the region for NHS Dermatology, averaging 4 weeks less than similar services on the mainland. It has the facilities to offer one-stop appointments where the assessment, diagnosis and treatment may be given in one visit.
The inspection revealed overwhelmingly positive feedback from patients, mirroring the clinic’s mission statement of delivering consistently high quality care, efficient use of resources, improved outcomes and a service to be proud of. Lighthouse Medical Ltd holds the Dermatology NHS Subcontract from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust and is the sole benefactor of the Lighthouse Educational Foundation charity.
