Soaring temperatures thanks to an incoming heatwave made for idyllic conditions under the blue skies yesterday (Saturday) for Day 3 of the Isle of Wight Festival 2018.
It was the Hard Rock Stage that was certainly the centre of attention for the first part of Saturday. The Isle of Wight’s very own Lauran Hibberd was first up, introduced by Hard Rock’s host, actor and presenter Andrew Hayden-Smith. ‘Wednesday’ then took to the stage, which attracted proud father and much-loved actor Colin Firth to make an appearance to support his son Luca, the band’s vocalist.
Other celebrities seen roaming the festival site include Fiona Bruce, Dave Berry, Peter Crouch, Abbey Clancy and Kimberley Wyatt.
Fantasy delivered an eclectic set of re-imagined rock classics and were joined on stage by none other than Isle of Wight Festival Promoter John Giddings on vocals/guitar to launch the crowd into a rockin’ afternoon.
It was James Bay that got the evening proceedings on the Main Stage underway with his chart topping hits such as ‘Hold back the River’ and ‘Let it Go’. That was closely followed by former Oasis star Liam Gallagher, who proved a firm favourite with the crowds.
Saturday night was brought to a close by headliners Depeche Mode who delivered 1hr 45mins of electrifying music. The group have exclusively hired out an entire Isle of Wight hotel for the weekend.
Earlier in the day Jessie J, Kodaline and Blossoms all took centre stage at Seaclose.

Over in the Big Top it was the likes of Soul II Soul that entertained revellers as the sun set on one of the hottest days of the year so far. Louise, the former wife of football star Jamie Redknapp, performed in The Big Top yesterday afternoon. Her ex was seen filming on the Isle of Wight on Friday for the TV show ‘A League of their Own’.
The Big Top was brought to a close by Hacienda Classical – a confessed favourite of Sky Arts host Joel Dommett, who took part in yesterday’s 50th anniversary gold theme by dressing up complete with a golden bow tie!
The action continues today (Sunday) with performances from Sheryl Crow, Camila Cabello, Van Morrison, Manic Street Preachers and of course The Killers, who will bring the Isle of Wight Festival 2018 to a close from 21:30.
