Isle of Wight rower Louis Sheasby has been selected to represent Great Britain at the 2026 U19 World Rowing Championships, which take place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria this week.
Sheasby is among 42 athletes chosen to compete for the GB Rowing Team and will race in the Men’s Quadruple Sculls against the world’s best junior crews.
The talented youngster, who previously rowed for Shanklin & Sandown, heads to Bulgaria after helping Leander Club win the prestigious Fawley Challenge Cup at this year’s Henley Royal Regatta.
He will line up alongside Finley Corby and Gabriel Lorenzi of Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School Boat Club, and Isaac Thornton of The Windsor Boys’ School Boat Club.
According to British Rowing, Sheasby previously represented Great Britain in the annual GB v France match in 2024, where he won in the Men’s Double Sculls before stepping up to the U19 international stage this season.
The Great Britain squad includes 10 crews and 5 returning athletes from last year’s U19 World Rowing Championships in Lithuania, where GB topped the medal table with 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

“This is an exceptionally talented group of athletes who, since completing our final testing at Crew Formation, have been united by a single goal: to make their boats go as fast as possible.

It will be exciting to see these 22 young men and 19 young women race hard for their best possible placings in their respective finals.
“We are grateful to all the clubs, schools, and coaches who have supported these athletes throughout the year. Their dedication has helped the team reach this point, and their continued support has ensured our athletes are ready to compete.”
The U19 World Rowing Championships take place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from tomorrow (6th August) until Saturday (9th August).
