Ryde Model Yacht Club has presented £722.82 to Mountbatten Isle of Wight following its annual Charity Model Yacht Race, held at Ryde Canoe Lake last month.
Proudly sponsored by Jewson, the event- held on the 28th June – saw 15 Marblehead class yachts competing in close racing throughout the day. Spectators generously supported the event, helping the club raise £653.15 in donations on the day, with additional contributions bringing the final fundraising total to £722.82. The charity regatta was won by Chris Brooks.
In July, members of Ryde Model Yacht Club gathered in Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s Chelsea Garden to present the cheque to the charity. The latest donation adds to the many thousands of pounds the club has raised for local charities over the years through its annual fundraising events.

Founded in 1874, Ryde Model Yacht Club is one of the oldest model yachting clubs in the United Kingdom. Originally sailing on the waters off Ryde seafront, the club moved to Ryde Canoe Lake following its construction in 1882 and has remained a prominent part of the Island’s sporting heritage ever since.
