The first day of the Isle of Wight Festival proper saw beautiful sunshine engulf the Isle of Wight with tens of thousands of people waking up at, or making their way to Seaclose Park in Newport.
Kasabian, who last played the Isle of Wight back in 2011, brought Friday to a close with their not-to-be-forgotten headline performance just a short time after favourites The Script also returned to rock Seaclose.
The main arena was noticeably busier than in recent years, especially for a Friday night, reflecting what is thought to be a near sell-out year for the festival.
Those unfortunate enough to miss Nile Rodgers & Chic at Bestival in 2014 were treated to a stellar main stage performance last night with hit after hit. Other acts to wow the crowds during the day included Rita Ora, Walking on Cars and Bang Bang Romeo.
Over in The Big Top revellers were treated to a DJ set from legends Chase and Status with Feeder, Circa Waves, Tom Grennan, Kara Marni and Judas also performing on the secondary stage.
Footballer Peter Crouch made an appearance at the festival yesterday and was even seen having a kick about with friends.

Today (Saturday) will see the festival celebrate its ‘Golden Jubilee’ with all attendees invited to adorn themselves in gold for a weekend of fun and celebration. Expect to see sparkling divas, shining stars and victorious gladiators come together for this year’s 50th anniversary.
The party continues today with music from top acts such as Jessie J (15:50), Kodaline (17:00), James Bay (19:20), Liam Gallagher (20:45) and headliners Depeche Mode (22:15) – all on the Main Stage. Soul II Soul are one of the top acts to be performing in The Big Top tonight (21:30) followed by Hacienda Classical (23:45).
