The National Trust Isle of Wight will be celebrating National Nature Reserves Week at Newtown – the Island’s only National Nature Reserve – between 20th and 27th May.
A series of guided walks and events will be taking place at Newtown National Nature Reserve, set on the idyllic north coast of the Isle of Wight, itself a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with 50% of the Island classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Newtown National Nature Reserve is also home to seals and White Tailed Eagles (recently released as the spearhead of the reintroduction programme of the rare bird to England) are often spotted hunting for fish there.
The National Trust will be sharing the work they do there and help visitors to discover the wildlife that lives on the reserve, and explain how everyone can keep it special.
Events include:
- Looking after Newtown National Nature Reserve, Saturday 20th May, 10:00-12:00.
- Wellbeing walk and nature craft session, Sunday 21st May, 10:00-12:00.
- Little explorers, Tuesday 23rd May, 10:30-12:30.
- Birdwatching drop-in, Wednesday 24th May, 10:30-16:30.
