Islander Mila Lake sadly saw her adventure on The Voice UK come to an end over the weekend after she was eliminated from the popular ITV show.
On Saturday, on her 2nd performance on the show, Mila sang Better off Without You by former The Voice contestant Becky Hill.
Up against 3 other contestants in what is called the callbacks, she was unfortunately eliminated with 27-year-old Mark Howard sent through the semi-finals.
Previously, the 17-year-old saw her original audition performance air on 1st October when she wowed judges Olly Murs, Tom Jones, Anne-Marie and Will.i.am with her rendition of getting Bebe Rexha’s You can’t stop the girl with judges Olly, Tom and Anne-Marie pushing their button and turning their chairs for the Island star.
After hearing what the judges had to say, Mila chose to join team Anne-Marie with the singer saying:
“You have a very pure voice and you could hear that you have more to give.”
Mila started performing with the local theatre group Theatretrain when she was just 7 years old and has been singing ever since.
I stopped watching The Voice UK three years ago when really talented female singers were voted off in the Battle Round in favour of character male singers with beards and guitars. That’s whom they want. And apart from Becky Hill, no-one from the show has made it, so anyone who leaves at this stage have a lucky escape. There are plenty of other ways to try and make it in music.
