Island cyclists Matt Harris and Arthur Venables headed over to the Liss on the mainland last Wednesday where they competed in a 10 mile time trial.
Unfortunately for the Island duo, the wind was blowing from North-East to South-West, meaning that they would have a headwind for the last 5 miles of the course.
Junior rider Arthur Venables, who was looking to improve on his qualifying time for the junior national 10 mile time trial, headed out onto the course with temperatures averaging 28ºC along the A3. He put in a decent performance, with him doing a personal best time of 23:18, while also collecting the faster junior award.
Harris headed out onto the A3 with him averaging 32mph for the first 5 miles with the aid of a tailwind. He finally crossed the line in a time of 21:26. With his highly competitive time helping the …a3crg team collect the fastest team prize.
The week prior to this on the 16th, Harris competed in another 10 mile time trial along the A3, in which he got a personal best time for 10 miles of 21:02, only just a few seconds away from a 20 minute time, with him looking to break into the 20 minute time as part of his personal season target.
