Every rider is important at the Wightlink Warriors and as such HUBBARD’S Mobile Museum will sponsor the Warrior’s mascot jackets in 2016.
The museum will supply jackets for Frankie Stacey and Charlie Luckman (pictured left), who were recently named as the club’s mascots for the upcoming season, which begins in April.
Paul Hubbard from the museum said:
“HUBBARD’S mobile museum was started in 2008 with one upright Weslake bike and now has around 10 bikes in show condition along with a large collection of 70’s and 80’s race jackets and leathers.
“The reason I want to sponsor the Isle of Wight club is because speedway has been in my family for many years. In 2015 I lost my sister Sharron Hubbard to cancer. She was a massive speedway fan and when I saw the opportunity to sponsor a race in her memory I just had grab it with both hands. I also help out at my local training track Lydd Speedway, where it’s all about bringing on the youngsters. So extending my sponsorship to the Warrior Mascots seemed like a natural progression and I look forward to meeting them both during my visits to the Isle of Wight.”
In the picture you can see one of the bikes that has an upright engine which is in a very different position to the laydown bikes of today.
Co-boss of the Warriors Barry Bishop said:
“I have the privilege of knowing Paul and his family for some years now and it is absolutely superb that he has chosen the Warriors to sponsor again. Paul has been very interested in youth and amateur speedway for a long time now and is actively involved in this at Lydd. When not at Lydd, he’s showing off his beautiful bikes and race jacket collection across the country. Welcome to the Warriors, HUBBARD’s Mobile Museum.”
