It’s clear that Islander Charlie Luckman is determined to play his part in the return of speedway to the Isle of Wight in 2016 as not only the club’s and probably speedway’s youngest official sponsor, but one of the Wightlink Warriors’ mascots.
James Luckman, Charlies Dad said:
“It is great to be part of the return of Speedway to the Island and I think from the support shown so far it will be here to stay.
“My father introduced me to Speedway and now I am pleased to introduce Charlie, who first visited Smallbrook when he was 3 years old. Charlie is very excited to get on his new bike and join the riders on the track.”
Commercial Director Barry Bishop said:
“To have Charlie as one of team mascots is just great news. He and his father, James, have been really supportive in the Warriors return and Martin and I are only too pleased to have Charlie coming on board with us.
“The “deal” was struck during the Warriors celebration party when Charlie signed his name on the welcome letter from Martin and I followed by some questions from fans. Charlie really impressed us all, he was very confident on the microphone and did a radio interview or two after the signing session. We believe this could be start of something special.
“Welcome to the Warriors Charlie”.
