As the cold weather continues to bite across the Isle of Wight this week, gritters are set to continue in their deployment of salt across the Island’s road network this afternoon (Thursday) and tomorrow morning (Friday).
With low temperatures set to continue, Island Roads is to carry out another run in order to make road conditions across the Island’s major routes safer for those heading to and from work and school.
However, unlike usual, a time hasn’t been issued as to when they will be gritting, so motorists should be wary.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a cold weather alert has been issued by IW Met Service with the mercury set to plummet as the week goes on, bringing a risk of ice and snow by the weekend.
To find a list of all the Island's gritting routes, you can visit our dedicated Isle of Wight Gritting Routes & Winter Maintenance page.
