Emergency services have been called to Green Lane in Shanklin following a collision involving a caravan and a parked car.
Police are on scene on Green Lane, near County Ground, where a collision involving a caravan has occurred.
Island Echo understands that the caravan was being towed along Green Lane towards Shanklin when it struck a parked Ford Fiesta.
Despite the collision, the towing vehicle didn’t stop and left the scene.
The caravan is currently being recovered by Bartletts.
Southern Vectis had previously suggested that the caravan was ‘badly parked’, as a result, Green Lane was blocked to Route 2 buses for a short time.
Oh no, now another road in the area is going to be closed for six months!
Only 6 months. Lol and the rest.
The problem is there are too many vehicles parked along
roads making roads narrow for vehicles to pass.
Islandwide parking permits will clean up Roads and Streets
from the clutter of vehicles.
The Gipsys haven’t been down green lane since the fair days maybe early 2000s uncle Byrone dix will tell ya but if they are back we welcome them as there’s many pubs too drink in and loads of stuff too do in Shanklin these days so be careful lock up your animals and leave some food out for when they come back down green lane its been a while

Lower Hyde, maybe they are on holiday.
The caravan looks pretty ropey, like it had been parked up for a while.
It probably was dumped now someone else is having to pay for removing it, why did the original removal truck leave the scene? There is 2 dumped in the lay-by in Chale Green! What an eyesore? There must be away to find out who owns them and get them to pay for removal?
I thought fly tipping was wrong, obviously not
when it comes to abandoned vehicles or caravans
There’s a dumped vehicle along the main road in
Wootton just before you get to the old Sloop Inn
It’s been there for ages, another blot on the Landscape.
I am surprised the persons in the expensive houses have
not complained, maybe they are all second home owners
and have not seen it yet, it’s been there for weeks.
SERVICES ON THE ISLAND ARE SHODDY, YOU WOULD
NEVER BELIEVE THEY CHARGE ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE COUNCIL TAXES IN THE COUNTRY AND DO

Nearly every road you drive down it is impossible
to pass freely with vehicles parked either side
bringing traffic to a standstill.
One side of ALL Roads and Streets should have
Double Yellow Lines down 1 side therefore not stopping
the flow of traffic.
If plod or Council Highways dept or Civil Enforcement
Officers walked along every Street and Road on the Island
aand checked the Government website (Gov UK)
CHECK THE MOT OF HISTORY OF A VEHICLE
They could tow away all the illegal vehicles sitting
idle on island roads clogging up Roads and Streets.
DVLA say £1,000.00 fine, ZERO FINE if no one does
anything about it!
So many rules and regulations etc
BUT NO ONE ENFORCES THEM!
Couldn’t run a bath between them they are more concerned
slapping a parking ticket on a tourist or a motorist goes
over their time by a couple of minutes.
There is a spare parking place in Whiterails road.
That made me chuckle
I cannot believe in the year 2026 IW Council don’t
own or employ a tow truck to remove items parked
illegally.
They would be very busy and very profitable.
