A free 12-week netball programme is launching in Ryde this July to help Isle of Wight residents become more active and achieve their weight loss goals, with support from the Isle of Wight Council.
The sessions, which start on Thursday 3rd July, are part of the gloji Exercise Support programme and are open to eligible local residents at no cost.
In addition to weekly team netball, participants will have access to a range of digital health tools including weight loss coaching, online workouts, recipes, and wellbeing content.
The initiative welcomes all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced players. Each session begins with a weigh-in and coaching guidance, followed by games on court with rolling substitutions and breaks. The aim is to build confidence, fitness, and skills over the 12 weeks.
The programme has already shown success on the Isle of Wight, with recent participants reporting weight losses between 5kg and 7kg (around 1.1 stones).
Jack Bennett, gloji’s Service Lead for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, has said:
“This is an opportunity for residents to join a friendly, welcoming group, enjoy team play, stay active, and work towards their weight loss goals, all as a professional coach guides them at their own pace.”
As part of the offer, participants also gain unlimited access to gloji’s online gym, which includes live and on-demand sessions to support mobility and strength building.
Sessions will take place every Thursday from 18:00 to 19:30 at Ryde School on Queen’s Road in Ryde.
