Firefighters from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at a West Wight restaurant this morning (Sunday).
2 appliances from Freshwater and Newport are attending a fire at The Hut eatery in Colwell Bay. A water carrier from Ventnor is also in attendance at the scene.
Crews have connected an appliance to a fire hydrant in the vicinity of the slipway, with main hoses running the length of the sea wall to the restaurant, which is situated approximately 100 metres away.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
UPDATE @ 11:15 – Firefighters have used several sets of breathing apparatus to enter the building and extinguish the flames.
A cordon has been erected blocking pedestrians from entering the western side of the Colwell Bay sea wall.
UPDATE @ 11:36 – Firefighters have successfully extinguished the fire having been on scene for approximately just over an hour.
Positive Pressure Ventilation fans are being used to clear the building of smoke, and the cordon has now been removed restoring access to the Western area of the Bay.

Teams are now beginning to remove firefighting equipment such as hoses and fire extinguishers from the scene.
UPDATE @ 12:05 – Crews have now stood down from the incident, which is suspected to have been caused by electrics.

Surely all electrical wiring and devices should be checked where public are allowed to be?
Modern safety devices ought to trip the power off before fire occurs in most cases.
Well done first crew on the scene . I am concerned at fire cover in the West Wight if Yarmouth Fire Station is maybe not available .
Hi John, as you will see in the caption, this photo was provided by Freshwater Fire Station.
