The family of 55-year-old David Johns have paid tribute to him, as Police confirm the grandad was the victim of last Monday’s killing at an address in Shanklin.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Armed Police were called to St John’s Road at 22:11 on Monday 25th April following reports of an ‘altercation’.
Officers attended and located 2 men with serious injuries – including the prime suspect in David’s murder, a 36-year-old man.
David, from Shanklin, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
His family have today (Tuesday) released the following tribute to him:
“Dad was Brentford’s Number 1 fan. He was a great dad, grandad and brother. We will miss him very much”.
The 36-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody having now been treated for serious injuries sustained during this incident. A charging decision is expected within days.
Mystery still surrounds what exactly happened inside the property at St John’s Road, although it is understood the 36-year-old sustained knife wounds to his stomach.
Anyone with concerns or information can contact the Police on 101, quoting Operation Marigold or 44220162095.
I’ve only met him when at work, found him to be a polite man. Rip
Making that comment at this time in these circumstances makes you also ‘a knob’
Classy Tracey very classy… RIP Dave once a bee always a bee
Dodgy.Thats what happens when you’re in the drug’s scene..
it’s true, unfortunately most crime on the island revolves around that circle
Well I don’t know these people but it seems the hole island knows what may have happened in that house apart from the police
If someone attacks you with a knife then your entitled to defend yourself with deadly force also if the other parties felt thier life or others life was threatened then they have a right to defend themselves and others its best to tell the truth people
You tell one person anything on this island it turns into vocal virus and may be twisted
truth therefore I unable to say no more
it is not what people know – it is what can be proven, as that is all that really matters in court. You can be assured that the police will know exactly what happened and they will have a multitude of stories and statements from countless people – all relevant to deduce the bit they don’t know – why and who else may have had a vested interest from behind the scenes – if at all.
Hopefully at the trial the reasons WHY he was murdered will be revealed, until then it is a case still open to conjecture. May he RIP until then.
