An 8-year-old girl from the Isle of Wight has been given the opportunity of a lifetime after earning a place in the Queens Park Rangers’ Under-10s Academy – but the cost of travelling to and from London now threatens to stand in the way of her dream.
Florence Buller’s football journey began on the Isle of Wight with Ryde Saints before she moved to Wight Eagles, where her passion for the game and determination to improve quickly became clear.
Now, after years of hard work and dedication, Florence has secured a place in the QPR Under-10s Academy – an achievement her family describe as something they are “unbelievably proud of”.
The opportunity will allow the talented youngster to train with top coaches and continue developing her game at one of the country’s professional clubs.
But there is 1 major hurdle.
To take up her place, Florence must travel from the Isle of Wight to London twice every week for training, as well as making the journey again each Saturday for matches.
The recurring costs of ferry crossings, fuel, and other travel expenses are expected to amount to £900 per month. This will see significant financial strain placed on the family, who are determined not to let money prevent Florence from pursuing her football ambitions.
They are now appealing for support from the local community to help cover the ongoing travel costs, ensuring Florence can attend training and matches consistently.

“This is an amazing opportunity for her to develop her talent, learn from top coaches and follow her dream of playing football at the highest level.
“We don’t want the cost of travel to become a barrier that prevents Florence from making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
