Island families are being invited to enjoy a day of adventure and discovery as Isle of Wight Scouts host an open day at Corf Scout Campsite on Saturday (17th May).
Running from 10:00 to 16:00, the event is free to attend with a £5 donation per car for parking. Funds raised will go towards helping local Scouts take part in international experiences next year.
Visitors will have the chance to try their hand at a wide range of activities including archery, climbing, tomahawk throwing, shooting, frisbee golf, and cooking on an open fire. Kayaking will also be on offer, subject to tide conditions. Those taking part in water activities are advised to bring a change of clothes, swimsuit, towel, and appropriate footwear – open-toed shoes are not allowed.
Other attractions include craft activities, an iSpy trail, bouldering, visits to the bird hide, and the opportunity to try a musical instrument. Guests will also be able to explore the heritage of Isle of Wight Scouting and how it continues to evolve in 2025.
Andy Hollebon, County Chair for Isle of Wight Scouts, has said:
“There will be lots of activities and the opportunity to try something new! Archery, climbing, tomahawks, shooting, kayaking, frisbee golf, cooking on an open fire – there’s something for all ages.
“Bring the whole family along and have a great day out.”
Scouting remains the largest voluntary sector provider of activities for young people on the Isle of Wight. The organisation is currently seeking adult volunteers in both uniformed and non-uniformed roles.
